23-K by Beverly

A new week and the next letter in our 23rd jaunt through the alphabet. K is the star this week.

K is for Kite.

Who hasn’t flown a kite when young – whether store-bought or made by hand. What fun it was to race across a field with your kite trailing behind, with the hopes it would soar above you.

A beautiful poem by Kimmers gives a perfect description of flying kites. Here are the first four lines:

colors floating in the blue
as laughing children pull on string
rising and falling and billowing and swaying
to the rhythms of the wind…

Here is my art tag in response to “kite

kite 001

…Hi Everybody… and Goodmorning / -afternoon / – night

For 23-J … I’ve chosen 2 animals from different zoo’s in The Netherlands.
The first one is a Jaguar, his name is Mowgli. Originaly from  Wildlands in Emmen,
but now (and last year became a father of 2) in Artis in Amsterdam

The second one is a (Gold-)-Jackal… I don’t know of it is a male or a female, don’t know its name either. It lives in Burgers Zoo in Arnhem.

Have a splendid, ♥-warming ABC-wednes-day / – week!

23-I by Roger

world-populationI was on the US Census Bureau’s page and I discovered that there are nearly 7.5 billion INDIVIDUALS in the world presently, 7,495,846,704 as of August 30, 2018.

And two of the four most populous countries in the world start with the letter I, at least in English:

  1. China 1,384,688,986
  2. INDIA 1,296,834,042
  3. United States 329,256,465
  4. INDONESIA 262,787,403
  5. Brazil 208,846,892
  6. Pakistan 207,862,518
  7. Nigeria 195,300,343
  8. Bangladesh 159,453,001
  9. Russia 142,122,776
  10. Japan 126,168,156

Of course, there are other countries starting with the letter I: ICELAND, IRAN, IRAQ, IRELAND, ISRAEL

I am INTRIGUED how the country adjective forms differ:

Ending with IC: Icelandic

Ending with N: Indian, Indonesian, Iranian

Ending with I: Iraqi (or Iraki), Israeli

Ending with SH: Irish
